About OnlineCare AI

Most health questions start long before a waiting room.

We built OnlineCare AI for the hours in between — when something feels off, the clinic is closed, and searching only makes it worse. Describe what you feel, in your own words, and get a calm, structured next step.

Our story

It started with a question nobody could answer at midnight

A member of our founding team spent a night translating a parent’s worry into a language the on-call service understood. The medical answer took two minutes. Getting to someone who could give it took four hours. That gap — not the medicine, the access — is what we set out to close.

  • 2019 · The question. A prototype that could listen in one language and organise the answer in another.
  • 2022 · The structure. We stopped generating replies and started generating next steps.
  • 2024 · The app. Voice, text, symptoms, medication and records in one place.
  • Today · The mission. Every person gets a clear next step, whatever hour it is.
Mission & vision

Clear health guidance shouldn’t depend on your postcode, payslip or first language

Two commitments guide every decision we make about the product.

Our mission

Turn a worrying symptom into an understood one. We help people describe what they’re feeling, organise reliable health information around it, and show what a sensible next step looks like — in plain language, in over 100 languages, at any hour.

Our vision

A world where nobody delays care because they didn’t know it was serious, and nobody rushes to an emergency room because they didn’t know it wasn’t. Better first steps mean lighter waiting rooms and calmer households.

Why OnlineCare

Built around the moment you actually reach for help

Not a search engine, not a chatbot bolted onto a clinic booking form — a guided path from “something feels wrong” to “here’s what I’ll do next”.

You talk, it listens

Speak the way you’d describe it to a friend. No symptom dropdowns, no medical vocabulary required.

100+ languages, one experience

Switch language mid-sentence. The guidance stays the same quality — nothing gets lost on the way through.

Answers with a next step attached

Every response ends somewhere useful: self-care, an OTC option, a clinician, or urgent care.

Private by default

Minimal data collection, encrypted transport, and clear controls over what you keep or delete.

Open when everything else is closed

Weekends, holidays, 3 a.m. The hours when worry peaks are the hours we were built for.

Honest about its limits

It says “see someone now” when that’s the right answer, and never pretends to diagnose.

Our values

Four rules we don’t bend

When a product decision is hard, these are the tiebreakers.

Safety before engagement

We measure whether people got to the right level of care — never how long they stayed in the app.

Say what we don’t know

Uncertainty is written into the answer. No confident guesses about your body.

Access is the product

Language, cost, literacy and disability are design constraints, not edge cases.

Your data stays yours

No selling health data. Ever. Export or delete what we hold, whenever you want.

Guidance you can trace, not answers pulled from thin air

OnlineCare AI is built on top of curated clinical reference material rather than the open web. Every response passes a safety layer that looks for warning signs first — so the app escalates before it explains.

  • Reference content reviewed by qualified clinicians before it reaches the model.
  • Red-flag detection that overrides everything else and routes to urgent care.
  • Guardrails against diagnosis, prescription and dosage instructions.
  • Encrypted transport with strict access controls on every request.

Yes to both
AI innovation

The follow-up question is the hard part

Anyone can return a list of possible causes. The useful skill is knowing which single question changes the answer most — and asking it before anything else. That’s where our research effort goes.

  • Adaptive questioning that stops as soon as the picture is clear enough.
  • Voice understanding tuned for accents, hesitation and code-switching.
  • Plain-language output checked for reading level, not just accuracy.
  • Continuous review of conversations that ended without a clear next step.
